Setting the Stage (or Screen): Virtual drama strategies for reading comprehension (grades K-5)
Use the screen as a stage for your students to embody their learning! This workshop highlights drama strategies that can be adapted for virtual environments with the goal of helping students prepare for independent reading by strengthening comprehension of new vocabulary or key concepts in the text. Teachers will have an opportunity to apply strategies to books of their choice and learn how to extend strategies to creative writing.

Cross-Cutting: Dramatic Exploration of Point of View (grades 3-5)
Borrowed from the world of film, the cross-cutting drama technique shows two scenes happening at the same time. In this workshop, 3rd-5th grade teachers will explore how to use this versatile strategy in the virtual classroom to foster in-depth understanding of point of view in literature and social studies. Teachers will identify effective prompts that encourage students to make comparisons, support ideas with key details and develop empathy.

A work of art has the power to connect individuals from diverse backgrounds and with differing points of view. This workshop helps educators develop lines of inquiry around artworks that explore universal patterns across cultures and human experiences. Discover arts-based strategies that celebrate individual student voice, promote higher order thinking skills, demonstrate untapped strengths, and foster a climate of safety for creative risk-taking.
